Attractiveness, enhancement of the territory and digital heritage are the three terms that encompass the essence of “MagNet - The Network of Museums of Magna Graecia”, an interregional cooperation project. The project financed in the frame of Operational Program of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Basilicata 2014-2020, Axis 5 “Protection of the environment and efficient use of resources", Specific Objective 6.7 “Improvement of the conditions and standards of supply and use of cultural heritage, in the areas of attraction”, Sector of intervention “95. Development and promotion of public cultural services”.
The MagNet project started in November 2021 and its primary objective is to relaunch places of culture such as museums, hit hard during the pandemic and "awaken" the interest of the visitor, increase their curiosity, working on attractiveness and technological innovations in order to make these spaces, which have always been places of choice and keepers of the historical and artistic memory of our country over time, more dynamic, lively and modern.
In particular, MagNet intends to implement a model of knowledge and use of the museums and archaeological areas of Magna Graecia in Basilicata from an innovative and sustainable point of view, making use of new media and digital tools – the Digital Heritage – in order to promote and increase their attractive potential.
The new fruition models, in fact, will be based on both innovative digitization and virtual reality (VR) technologies, which will make it possible to enhance the regional Magna Graecia cultural heritage in order to increase the flow of visitors and transform the visit into a memorable real experience of cultural consumption with a high symbolic content.
Archaeological assets, accessible, inclusive, participatory, "cultural infrastructures" and "gateways" to the discovery of the surrounding territories, capable of incisively contributing to the economic and territorial enhancement of Basilicata.
